Back to School
It’s that time of year, folks! Filled with a swirl of numerous conflicting emotions for parents and students alike - it’s back to school season!
For some of us, it’s day 1 - which means hardcore transition, disruption to summer routine, maybe some tears and anxiety, and also excitement!
For our college students, this week might look like getting acclimated to the new routine, new housing, and being back on campus.
For our high school students, maybe you’re starting to drive to school or snag a ride with a friend. And geeze louise, sports practice, play practice - you name it!
For our parents and younger kiddos, this is probably a stressful and bittersweet scramble to get ready and out the door. Don’t forget your shoes!
Before we get full swing into the new routine, every single one of us can benefit from setting an intention to practice mindfulness around how we function from day to day. Before the big, bad burn out wheel starts turning, how can we show up for ourselves at least once a day and take an inventory on what we need to stay afloat? Here are some fan favorites to try out this year -
Journaling at the beginning or end of the day
Letting loose with some form of play (time outside, getting messy, painting, making cookies)
Creating a container around anxious thoughts (maybe write them down and rip them off, then move on with the day)
Moving your body at the beginning or end of the day
Consistent nutrition and hydration
Regular bedtime routines
You’ve got this!
