Independent Educational Evaluation

An IEE provides a fresh, unbiased perspective on your child’s educational abilities and helps ensure they receive the appropriate supports and services.

What Is an Independent Educational Evaluation?

An Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) is an assessment conducted by a qualified professional who is not affiliated with your child’s school district. Families often request an IEE when they feel their child’s school evaluation did not fully capture their learning needs, strengths, or challenges.

Why Families Choose an IEE

Parents and guardians may request an IEE for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Concerns that a school evaluation was incomplete or inaccurate

  • Desire for a more detailed assessment of specific learning or behavioral challenges

  • Need for expert recommendations to guide Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan decisions

  • Access to specialized evaluators in areas such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism, speech and language, or emotional/behavioral needs
