Get Unready With Us #SchoolEdition
Get unready with us after a long day of school…
After coming home from a long day at school, the last thing we want to do is study for an exam, complete homework, or write an essay. Here’s how we make our after school routine a little more tolerable.
1. Unpack!
Although this first step might seem unnecessary to some, unpacking is a crucial part to our after school routine. Unpacking allows us to put away the school day, decluttering our minds and our belongings. It can also be a good time to lay out the assignments we need to tackle without getting overwhelmed by unnecessary mess.
2. Eat a snack and recharge!
It is important to allow ourselves time to recharge before starting our homework. Eating a healthy snack helps us to fuel our body when we might be running low on energy. This time should be used to relax and clear our minds whether that be scrolling mindlessly on TikTok, watching TV, playing video games, or hanging outside. We like to set an alarm for an appropriate amount of time to relax (no more than an hour) before we move on to the next step of our after school routine. This step is necessary because it helps prevent burn out which will allow us to be more productive once we begin our homework!
3. A fresh start!
Similar to step number one, this step symbolizes a clean slate. Changing out of our school clothes or uniform into more comfortable clothes can be a great way to give ourselves a fresh start. If this doesn’t work for you, washing your hands is another way to rise off the school day and have a clean beginning before getting down to business.
4. Get to work!
Easier said than done. Where to begin? Make a to-do list! Starting with smaller assignments can create a sense of accomplishment and it also makes our to-do list shorter much faster. Between each assignment take a break for 5-10 minutes but make sure to move to a new space for some new scenery.
5. Relax!
Enjoy the rest of the night watching TV with family, eating dinner, and getting to bed at a reasonable time so that we have energy for our day tomorrow!
