Connecting With The Support You Need
Like much of what we offer at Ambler Counseling Center, we aim to utilize a flexible and unique approach to supporting our teens. Our group facilitators actively guide meaningful discussions and provide real-life practice opportunities to improve upon identified areas, while the teens within our groups are often the best source of support to one another. Our welcoming atmosphere and chill vibes make it easy to share, naturally encouraging our group members to dive deeper into tough subjects and help each other by sharing their tips to overcome universal challenges among group members.
Why Join a Support Group?
Provides a Sense of Belonging
Learn coping skills through bonding over shared experiences
Encouraging environment
Consistent source of routine social engagement and understanding
Structured, yet fluid framework for processing experiences
Shared community experiences are shown to promote freedom of expression and greater motivation to make positive changes. With encouragement and advice from young, relatable counselors and other teens that can relate to their similar challenges, teens can observe skills and ideas to be absorbed and incorporated into your daily routine.
Our Groups are either “skills” practice or are more of a “process” group in which group members collaboratively reflect on different areas of focus decided upon by group members, teens can expect to feel connected, validated, heard, motivated, and challenged (a little bit).

FAQs From Our Teens
But wait… Do I have to sit around in awkward circle and talk about my feelings like they do in the movies?
NO. We aim to create a chill and -real- energy in our group space that allows for true expression and vibing. Group members “ping pong” ideas, contribute to vent seshes, and build strengths off one another to process through whatever shared theme or skill the group identifies.
How does group counseling benefit teens?
Because identity exploration and peer connections are such a vital part of being a teen, group work tends to be supportive to teens in connecting with others and feeling validated in their experiences. Teens in our groups can expect to build on your strengths and areas for growth with the support of other teens who are on your level - not just another adult who can’t quite relate to what it’s like to be a teen these days.
What kind of group is right for you?
Are you interested in primarily practicing skills such as mindfulness? Are you interested in processing through shared themes and challenges identified within the group? How about a little bit of both? In our initial consultation call, feel free to share your vision of how group can work for you and what you are looking to gain from your group work.
